Tropical forest grows
in the majority of hot, humid places of the world. Called
tropical because they are found between the two imaginary
lines on the globe called Tropic of Cancer and Tropic
of Capricorn, there are evergreen forests and also forests
where in the dry season some trees lose their leaves.
The tropical forests have great importance because they
provide oxygen, they clean the air and prevent erosion
of the soil, besides providing food and medicinal products
for man. The "Jungle Path" is a permanent
exhibition of live collections of plants identified
by labels with their respective scientific criteria,
which are used for education and research in biodiversity
of these ecosystems.

Mushroom Farm
One of the main tasks at our Mushroom Farm is to develop
and teach new methods of growing edible mushrooms on
different culture mediums such as oat chaff, palm leaves
and other vegetation. Visitors are invited to sample
the results in our restaurants La Cocina and La Caleta.

Orchids
Exotic, fragrant and
beautiful. An adventure in the ‘Secret Life of
Plants’. Located in the heart of the Botanical
Garden, you’ll not only be able to view a variety
of orchids, but also learn about their cultivation process.
In our laboratory, you can see the various steps of
orchid development from a seed developed in vitro to
just before it is transplanted to the greenhouse. To
date we have successfully cultivated 89 of the 105 regional
orchid species
