| To only five
kilometers to the south of Akumal, in the way towards Tulum, is the national park
and lagoon of Xel Ha East natural fresh water aquarium and salty it is
populated by infinity of tropical fish. Here fish can admire themselves from multicolors
perico to mantarrayas. There is a small archaeological site crossing the highway.
Xel Has can be visited in a day and counts on all the services, except lodging.

The Xel-Ha expression is a combination
of Mayan terms that mean "water entrance", alluding to the geography
of the place, a creek, although that name was granted by the Spaniards, not knowing
itself if it were really the original name. The site was used by old Mayan in
the pre-Hispanic stage like given port the its particular geographic location,
