This interesting
museum exhibits ceramics, engravings and jade objects found during excavations
of several archaeological sites in the state of Quintana Roo.

MUSEUM OF THE MAYAN CULTURE
This museum uses modern sound, light and digital multimedia
technology to give a general overview of the ancient Mayan
culture, its art, architecture, religion and science. Avenida
Heroes, corner of Efraín Aguilar, in Chetumal.

REGIONAL MUSEUM OF BACALAR, FORT OF SAN FELIPE
Once a sevententh century fort where pieces extracted
from the Bacalar Lagoon are exhibited, as well as a collection of pre-Hispanic
and colonial objects. In one of the rooms of the museum appear temporary collections
of diverse Quintana Roo artists and cultural events are held. 38 kilometers to
the northwest of Chetumal, Bacalar.

CEDAM
This museum is located on the seafront, and among other vestiges
it contains the remains of the merchant boat "Matanceros" that weighed
anchor from Spain in 1741. Also, are arms of the period, such as pistols and cannon,
and Mayan pieces that have been located throughout the coast of Quintana Roo.

COZUMEL ISLAND
Located on the seafront, in a building that was once
a hotel. In this museum you can find out more about reefs, coral, and the marine
life that surrounds the island. Also, some historical pieces are exhibited. 6
